Mixing up the Medicine were a blues/bluegrass/acoustic duo who performed in the West Yorkshire area between 2007-2008 .

James Whelan played guitar and harmonica and sings.
Richard Clay played mandolin and guitar and sings.

"Mixing up the Medicine" played a lot of high-energy acoustic songs, with James' powerful voice, Richard's jazz/blues lead mandolin, and tight harmonies. In their full set they played their own songs, blues, and blue-grass classics. They inhabited that area where folk and blues meet country, and Dylan songs were a speciality.

They had previously played together in the bands "Mulberry Blue" and Rattlebag.
